April 2014

April always brings so much happiness and color to life! With April, Spring finally makes it's appearance, the flowers start to bloom, the sun begins to shine a little more, and the rain showers will soon bring May flowers!

The best part of April is always the miracle of the Easter holiday. It is such a beautiful time for Christians to come together and to celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the time spent with their families, friends, and church families throughout the month of April!

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:  'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.  - Luke 24:6-7

With love.

Spring into a shabby chic season!

Cheers to the New Year!

I hope all of you are having a blessed start to the New Year.

We all have made new resolutions and we will all fail at some of our new found expectations. That is okay and only makes us try harder, re-evaluate the situation, and/or determine the true value of that specific resolution.

Our Dead Man Breathing FB page has had many post lately regarding donations for BJM. BJM is our 501c3 non-profit organization set up to help families faced with tragedy or trauma. As funds allow we hope to broaden the scope of what we are capable of doing. I would love to see us funding college for burn survivors, offering legal resources for battered individuals/families in addition to the legal resources that we currently offer for those injured on the job. No one that is affiliated with BJM is paid. We have absolutely no paid employees, board members, etc. Our donors are few and far between and we are in need of donations, corporate sponsors, operating funds, etc. Donations and lots of them are vital for us to promote change in families that we have committed to helping. For those of you that want to make changes this year in your own life and the life others this is the perfect opportunity to make that happen. Some of these families are part of your very own family, your inner circle of friends, and/or members of your church. I am asking each of you to give sacrificially. Every dollar is tax deductible and every dollar will be used to change the live of others. I would never ask you to do anything that I am not willing to do myself. I have given and continue to give in order to ease the many types of constraints trauma places individuals and families.

Click on the donation tab at the top of the page and be a part of what we are trying to do. We are getting calls and emails daily and I do not want to turn anybody away when I know what our supporters are capable of doing.

Thank you for your prayer and support!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I do know that I'm not keeping up with my blogging like I should and I do apologize, truly. Since my last blog my family's life has been turned upside down, wrong side outwards, and back again. We are still transitioning and I will fill you in a little bit, in the coming weeks regarding what is new with us at the McDaniel house & how we are working to try to make a difference and allow God to use us know matter what is going on in our lives. For today I just wanted to reflect a little bit about what it means to be thankful and to be very content in our current circumstances no matter what they may be. With all of the Thanksgiving cook in preparation, decorations, family, etc. We as women especially lose sight of what the day and what this time of year is supposed to be about. I want you to know that out of all these things that I write this one statement. I want you to remember this statement, I want you to tattoo it to your four head, is that will help you remember! This will make your life a lot simpler, it will make you as a woman a lot better at being a woman, at being a mom being, a wife, a good employer, and/or employee.

Okay girls this is the meat, this is the juice. And I can promise you it is nothing that you haven't heard before. Here it is... That dirty house, those dirty clothes, that crying baby, will all still be there once you have gotten off your knees and sat at Jesus' feet for moment. Me personally, I am a huge believer in making time for Jesus. I think that it is the most important thing as a woman that we can do for ourselves. This brings our focus and our attention back to where it needs to be. When you are stressing about money,  when you're stressing about laundry, when you were stressing about the daily Mundane things that women stress about. The simplest thing that we can do is to revert or bring our thoughts back to Christ and remember he is that one constant that loves us, that wants to see us succeed. He is our daddy and he is our biggest cheerleader and he wants nothing more for us to experience the fullness of his peace comfort joy in all the days of our life. But, especially on the days that the world has told us should be more stressful during the times of the year that the world is told us that if we do not reflect. I don't want you to get caught up in the petty things. I don't want you to be that person that allows it in the worldly stress to steel your joy. If the sweet potatoes don't get made this year, they don't get made. It's okay if that turkeys a little bit dry, it's okay that's the fun memories. Hey my sister and I didn't even serve dressing last year at Thanksgiving, and we had invited a family over that didn't have family close by and we served them Thanksgiving dinner, right on with the dressing still sitting in the oven! Nobody said a word! But boy do we laugh about it now:) Hey my mama had every thing tip top in perfect shape during the holiday season. Carney and Jack remember the crazy things that happened and we all laugh about. Carney still remembers and enjoys that mom hung out with her most the day on Thanksgiving. She remembers going on Black Friday, sleeping in the car all day and night and standing in line for something we don't even need. She remembers not even having Thanksgiving dinner because we decided we didn't want to cook Thanksgiving dinner, we just want to do nothing, and we ate junk food instead! So ladies, today on Thanksgiving let your hair down, relax. Spend a few minutes of much-needed time first thing this morning talking to your number one cheerleader Jesus, and then go downstairs and go in there and dance with your baby on Xbox. Show your husband why he is so special to you today. Show him by doing something out of the norm and/or spontaneous with him. Leave the dishes, leave the laundry, don't worry if the toilet is not clean. It's okay, somebody will do it if they don't want to look it... It just doesn't have to be you today. Girls I love you and I thank you for reading my blog, I thank you for supporting my family. I'm thankful for you on this day because without you I would not have a ministry. Enjoy today to the fullest and share this with other great women.

Seeing God

Fall in the Mountains is absolute perfection. I can see God as far as my eyes can see. There are many breathtaking moments this time of year. I pray that you will take the time to enjoy God in the thing around you. Looking for his miracles around us takes our attention away from the "woe is me" things in our own life. Praying scripture will open our heart to see God and his glory like never before.

I hope you will join me in getting to know God in a new way.

McDaniel Farmhouse life...

We are working hard to get the farmhouse and gardens ready for fall. We have been cutting hydrangeas and drying them, decorating for fall, mulching the gardens, etc. As we have been spending our beautiful cool days outside we have noticed God all around us. Try to spend a few minutes each day seeing God in your natural surroundings.

Keep praying for BJM and for God's provisions. Without the much needed donations our ministries future is not certain.

A McDaniel Summer...

Jack and I made the decision to take the summer off and spend with each other and Carney hence the absence of my blog over the summer months.  We chose to stay at the lake all summer and spend every waking minute with our big, baby girl.  Carney turned 14 this summer and Jack and I realized we only have five years and she is off to college and to conquer the world on her own. We do not want to miss a minute of the short time we have left with her before she starts her “adult” journey.

No matter what the cra cra’s  seem to always find us. Jack and I learned that we are too trashy for the trailer park. Who knew? Well, we know now.  HA! HA!  Maybe it is that some people do not appreciate “Mississippi Redneck”.  My advise to you is never forget what makes you, you. Always be true to your roots and just enjoy life to the fullest.  Always let your reaction to the Cra’s cra’s show class regardless of how “redneck” we really are.

Carney has been working hard to perfect her wakeboarding skills the summer. I am so proud of how well she is doing and how happy she is doing it. That girl sure is special and God’s plan for her is pretty powerful.  Enjoy your babies and show them love constantly. We only have them for a short time and I do not want any of you to regret not kissing, hugging, or playing with them enough!  The housework, laundry, and dishes will be there when these precious souls leave the nest.

Jack did not have a surgery this summer. Our schedule and the doctor’s just have not seemed to be on the same page. We are going soon to see Dr. Holmes in Winston-Salem, NC. Dr. Holmes and Dr. Wolf (Jack’s current burn surgeon) are friends and both are always ranked the top one and two burn doctors in the world. We are blessed that we live within 2 hours of one of the top burn care facilities in the country. Dr. Holmes is behind the most cutting edge burn technology available.  Dr. Holmes and Billy Jack McDaniel Non Profit is partnering together to raise awareness of the excellent burn care available to North Carolina residents. This top, notch burn care is available to anyone who is need of burn treatment.  This can be arranged by contacting BJM Non Profit at www.billyjackmcdaniel.com and we will make those arrangements for you.  You will definitely be the first to know as soon as we have set dates.

I have exciting news for Dead Man Breathing to share.  We have officially sold out of books.  Yay!!!  There are a few available at Hello Beautiful on Hwy. 49 S. in Richland, MS and you can order @ www.billyjackmcdaniel.com.  We won an eLit book award for the ebook and Forword Book of the Year Honorable Mention award. This is a huge deal and we are still in shock.  We have our second print in the printing process and is scheduled to be here in November. Just in time for your Christmas orders! It has been revised and most importantly a very special addition that is a surprise.  We will ship books till we are completely out of the first edition print and once they are gone we will notify you. Do not wait to get yours now.

BJM, our non-profit, is struggling right along.  We are in need of donations in the amount of $3500. To pay for our accounting fees incurred from beginning to now for the 501c3 filings. The goal is to raise $3500 by October 1st.  Without this our future is unknown. We do trust in the Lord and know that he will provide as he sees fit.  Our yearly fundraising goal is $25,000 and not one donation has come in to help meet that.  We are constantly getting calls for Jack to go speak, for us to help with Burn or trauma campaigns, to help families financially effected by traumas, request for medical care and wound care supplies etc. but right now we are unable to provide or meet any of these needs.  We have been working politically and legally to help obtain quality Burn care for the state of Mississippi.  We have had to put that on hold until we have the funding to continue.  We are a 501c3 organization and every dollar is tax deductible. Your donation is an investment with significant returns for those who will need quality care that we are fighting to make available to everyone. This could make a huge difference on you or someone you love. Please go to www.billyjackmcdaniel.com and click on the donations tab to see how you can make a big impact on the life of someone else or possibly your own.

Thank you and like the Dead Man Breathing FB page to stay connected with what all of the BJM family is doing.

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV)
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

My Beautiful Ladies, I have committed to making this a daily prayer for myself and my family. Join me in this and let's share the changes we see in our lives as we draw near to God. This is going to be so fun and exciting to see what new spiritual journeys come from this!

With Much Love for Each of You, A'Leta

The Busy Lives of Women...

If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. 2 Tim. 2:21

"The Soul which gives itself wholly and without reserve to God is filled with His own peace; and the closer we draw to our God, so much the stronger and more steadfast and tranquil will we become."  Jean Nicolas Grou

Lovely ladies, we have to help each other stay focused on God. This is our only hope of calmness in such a hectic world. Let us all pray and encourage each other to sit at Jesus' feet. I hope each of you have a joy filled week.

A woman of character...

Proverbs 31:1-31 (NIV)
Sayings of King Lemuel [ ] 31 The sayings of King Lemuel—an inspired utterance his mother taught him. [2] Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb!Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers! [3] Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. [4] It is not for kings, Lemuel—it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer, [5] lest they drink and forget what has been decreed, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights. [6] Let beer be for those who are perishing, wine for those who are in anguish! [7] Let them drink and forget their povertyand remember their misery no more. [8] Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. [9] Speak up and judge fairly;defend the rights of the poor and needy. Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character [10] A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. [11] Her husband has full confidence in herand lacks nothing of value. [12] She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. [13] She selects wool and flaxand works with eager hands. [14] She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. [15] She gets up while it is still night;she provides food for her familyand portions for her female servants. [16] She considers a field and buys it;out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. [17] She sets about her work vigorously;her arms are strong for her tasks. [18] She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. [19] In her hand she holds the distaffand grasps the spindle with her fingers. [20] She opens her arms to the poorand extends her hands to the needy. [21] When it snows, she has no fear for her household;for all of them are clothed in scarlet. [22] She makes coverings for her bed;she is clothed in fine linen and purple. [23] Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. [24] She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. [25] She is clothed with strength and dignity;she can laugh at the days to come. [26] She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. [27] She watches over the affairs of her householdand does not eat the bread of idleness. [28] Her children arise and call her blessed;her husband also, and he praises her: [29] “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” [30] Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. [31] Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Us women do not have an excuse for not being women of character. This scripture shows us exactly how we are to conduct ourselves, manage our households, run a business, minister to others, etc. This is our guide to live our lives to the fullest and do it successfully. We can do this wearing stilettos and red lipstick!!!! Girls, make today a turning point for yourself and your families by modeling our lives according to scripture.

With much love for each of you, A'Leta
